Use n8n to track Reddit help requests

They built an n8n setup that gathers recent Reddit posts and surfaces messages from people looking for help with n8n.

What they did
They created two separate n8n flows. The first fires on a timetable, calls an Apify actor to pull fresh posts from selected n8n subreddits, then converts the text into embeddings and saves them in PostgreSQL with pgvector. The second listens in Telegram, sends each query to an AI agent that can reach that stored data, and returns posts with similar meaning; the agent uses Gemini Flash 3.1 Lite.
How it went
The finished system acted as a private search tool for spotting Reddit posts from people who want n8n help. The author said it also helped them grasp RAG by anchoring replies in retrieved posts, but they did not share any figures for accuracy, scale, or latency.
Tips
Model choice mattered here: they used Gemini Flash 3.1 Lite because the free tier has a high limit. If you adapt this idea, keep the retrieval step separate from any action that could publish, reply, or delete anything.

Try it yourself with n8n

Set up an n8n workflow that, every [day/week], fetches recent posts from [subreddits], converts them into embeddings, and stores them in [PostgreSQL/pgvector or another vector store]. Then make a second workflow that accepts a message from [Telegram/Slack/email], searches for Reddit posts that match requests for help with [tool or topic], and sends back the best matches with the title, link, and a short note about what the person needs. Stop and ask for my approval before any step that would send a message, submit anything, delete data, or post a reply.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
