Turn daily standups into async updates

A Zapier team used two internal agents to collect standup notes and roll them into a shared summary, cutting five daily meetings to two weekly ones.

What they did
Andrew Kordampalos's team at Zapier wanted to stop spending so much time in daily standups. They built two small agents on Zapier's own platform: one reached out to each person for an update, and the other turned the replies into a summary for the team. Slack handled the handoff, and they tried the agents in sandbox channels before moving them into production.
How it went
The routine changed quickly from five standups a week to two syncs a week. The writeup does not give a time-saved number or say how well the summaries read, and it notes that a new agent idea usually takes days to build.
Tips
Test in a sandbox channel first so you can see whether the updates are useful and not just noisy. Keep a human approval step before anything gets posted to the team.

Try it yourself with Zapier Agents

At [time] on [days], message everyone in [team or channel] for a short async standup update. Put the replies into one summary grouped by person, with blockers first and any decisions needed clearly marked. Draft the post for [destination channel] and stop for my approval before you send anything; after I approve, post it.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
