Draft contact replies and save ideas to Notion
Blake Oliver used a Zapier Central agent to draft podcast replies from Gmail and turn each incoming message into a Notion story idea.
- What they did
- Blake set up an agent in Zapier Central called Email Assistant and gave it access to his Gmail. He wrote a plain-English behavior that looks for new messages from the podcast contact form, drafts a reply in his style in the same thread, fills in the listener’s email address, and signs off. The same behavior also makes a Notion page with a title, a short summary, and the full message.
- How it went
- The setup worked on a test message. Blake tried three behaviors overall, but the other two ran into problems, and he said agents are still imperfect.
- Tips
- Keep the agent’s actions limited when the task has any risk. In this case, it could draft and log, but it could not send mail; for anything irreversible, pause and review first.
Try it yourself with Zapier Agents
Set up a Zapier Agent that watches [my Gmail address or label] for new emails from [my contact form]. For each message, draft a reply in [my tone] in the same thread, put the sender’s address in the To field, and sign off naturally. Also create a new entry in [my Notion database] with a title based on the topic, a short summary, and the full original message. Do not send, delete, or submit anything automatically; stop and ask me to review before any irreversible action. After a test email arrives, show me the draft reply and the Notion entry.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
