Build a post workflow with SEO and review tracking
They used n8n to turn article inputs into a WordPress draft, complete with SEO fields, image handling, and approval tracking.
- What they did
- They assembled an n8n automation that starts when a webhook sends over an item’s ID, headline, short description, source link, and hero image. From there, the flow shapes those details into an outline, grows it into a post of about 500 words, and prepares an SEO package. It then changes the markdown into HTML, downloads and uploads the featured image to WordPress, opens a draft, fills in Yoast metadata, and records progress in Google Sheets for sign-off and tracking. GPT Agent Mode only came into the picture earlier, when they were prototyping the Python part.
- How it went
- The outcome was a working pipeline for AI-news publishing. It now leaves them with WordPress drafts that already include images and Yoast data, and they preferred n8n because it gave them better control over approvals, retries, uploads, and logging.
- Tips
- Use a separate tracker for review steps if you want a clear approval trail. n8n is a stronger fit when you care about predictable runs, retry behavior, logs, and keeping credentials isolated.
Try it yourself with n8n
Set up an n8n workflow that receives [ID], [headline], [short description], [source URL], and [hero image] from [webhook/form/source]. Use that input to draft an outline, then expand it into a [word count]-word article in [tone/voice]. After that, generate an SEO pack with [title tag], [meta description], [URL slug], [keywords], and [headline ideas]. Convert the text from markdown to HTML, retrieve and upload the image to [WordPress/CMS], create the post as a draft, and write the SEO values into [Yoast or another plugin]. Log the item in [Google Sheets/other tracker] for approval and status updates. Stop and ask for my approval before any action that would publish, send, delete, or submit anything.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
