Use newsletter feeds to draft a daily spoken update

They connected Cowork to Readwise with n8n to produce a morning briefing from newsletters and test an audio readout.

What they did
Newsletter emails were routed into Readwise first. Since Cowork could not make its own web requests, the person exposed Readwise through n8n as an MCP server, then had Cowork call that bridge to collect the prior day’s article set. From there, Cowork wrote the material into a Word brief with a short overview, and then tried to turn that same content into speech.
How it went
The document step succeeded, and the n8n bridge worked cleanly. The audio attempt did not hold up: without access to a better text-to-speech model, Cowork used Flite on the local machine, and the output sounded too stiff to use.
Tips
This is a solid pattern for gathering and summarizing inbound reading material, but audio quality depends on the speech engine you can connect. If you need a listenable result, connect the agent to a stronger TTS option before asking it to narrate.

Every day at [time], review the newsletters that land in [Readwise source or email inbox], choose the key stories about [topics], and create a [number]-minute briefing script in a text file inside [folder]. If a text-to-speech service is available, also make an audio version, but stop and ask me to approve first before any step that sends, publishes, deletes, or spends money. When you finish, report which parts succeeded and which parts failed.
