Build a Notion research report from a topic

An n8n flow asks a few setup questions, gathers source text, writes a report, and posts it to Notion.

Done with n8nยท Advanced

What they did
A webhook handed the topic to a Strategy Agent, which followed up with 2โ€“3 clarifying questions and then opened a page in a Notion database. The workflow created up to three search queries, used Tavily to take the top result for each one, and extracted text from those pages. A Final Report Agent then turned the combined material into Markdown, Gemini split that into HTML chunks, and the chunks were inserted into the Notion page.
How it went
After the clarification step, the user got a link to the completed Notion report without any further manual work. Each query depended on a single highest-ranked source, and no figures were provided for quality, speed, or cost.
Tips
Set up the needed connections in n8n before testing, including Tavily, Notion, an OpenRouter or OpenAI model, and Google Gemini, along with a connected Notion database ID. Since the workflow only pulls one top source per query, it works better for a quick briefing than for exhaustive source checking.

Try it yourself with n8n

I want to research [topic] and save the result to [Notion database/page]. Start by asking up to three brief clarification questions about scope or angle, then stop and wait for my answers. After I confirm, create up to three search queries, collect the main text from the best result for each query, write a Markdown report from that material, convert it to HTML in chunks, and place it into the Notion page. Before any action that would send, publish, overwrite, or finalize content, ask me to approve it first.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
