Read court PDFs and prepare an IRS settlement letter

A pro se Tax Court litigant used Claude to inspect portal records, organize proof, and produce a settlement letter for the IRS attorney.

What they did
The petitioner had Claude in Chrome move through about ten items in the Tax Court’s DAWSON portal, opening the PDFs and turning each one into a short summary. That pass used around 100 actions and took about 20 minutes. They copied the recap into Claude Desktop, added solar-related evidence, and asked it to line up the documents with the credit requirements and write a settlement letter. Claude Code was then used to merge roughly 15 PDFs.
How it went
The whole process took about 30 minutes end to end. The letter went to the IRS attorney, but the matter is still unresolved and trial is set for April 2026. The petitioner sees the outcome as a possible win, not a finished one.
Tips
If your browser agent and desktop app can’t pass context directly, expect to move the summary yourself. Pause before any submission or sending step and check the draft carefully.

I’m logged in to [portal URL]. Go through the documents for [case name or number] one by one, open the PDFs, and give me a brief note for each plus a final timeline of dates, dollar amounts, and each side’s arguments. Then use those notes with my uploaded [evidence type] to check them against [rule or credit name] and draft a settlement letter to [recipient]. Stop before any action that would download, send, submit, delete, or file anything, and show me the exact version for approval first.
