Use n8n to streamline client chasing and preorder updates

A firm used n8n to trim bookkeeping admin, and another team used it to alert customers when supplier timing changed.

What they did
One bookkeeping firm put n8n to work with newer pre-accounting software. That software covered the accounting side, while n8n handled document filing and reminders for clients who had not yet sent everything in. Another team connected ERP and Shopify in a preorder setup. The workflow checked shipping dates tied to purchase orders, then reached out to waiting customers automatically whenever supplier timelines shifted, with a cancellation option if the date moved.
How it went
The bookkeeping process cut around 600 hours each year. The firm said the new setup would also let them serve four times as many clients without hiring again, which they described as about 2,400 effective hours and near $30,000 in wage savings. The preorder flow had only recently gone live, so there were no final numbers yet for revenue or time saved.
Tips
The bookkeeping gains depended on the software change as well as n8n. For customer messages, have the agent prepare the email first and require approval before any send step.

Try it yourself with n8n

Build two n8n automations for my [business]. First, create a workflow that sorts incoming [client files or paperwork] and follows up with people who still owe items. Second, make a workflow that watches [orders, supplier updates, or a spreadsheet] for delivery-date changes and drafts an email to the affected customers. Do not send any message until I review and approve it. Test both workflows with sample data, then tell me whether they ran correctly and estimate the time saved each week.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
