Use Claude to reconcile overdue Dutch tax records

A user had Claude sort two years of Dutch tax paperwork, match supporting records, and draft accountant-ready summaries.

What they did
They set up a bookkeeping system with Claude that brought in transactions from three bank accounts over a two-year span. Claude then scanned email for invoices and receipts, categorized the spending, estimated what was owed and when, and laid everything out in the Dutch tax agency’s box format for an accountant. The user also had Claude research their own Dutch tax situation and turn that into a wiki, which they used to identify uncertain items and prepare questions for the accountant rather than depending on the model alone.
How it went
They said the work cleared years of missed filings in one afternoon. They also expected later quarterly summaries to be reduced to a single CLI command that would take about five minutes, and said the setup had already cut costs by thousands of euros. Even so, it still left 19 questions for the accountant.
Tips
Use the agent to organize and cross-check, not to make the final call. Keep a human review step for ambiguous cases before anything is filed or paid.

Try it yourself with Claude

I’m catching up on [country] taxes for [year range]. I’ll provide bank exports, receipts, invoices, email data, and any notes I have: [paste or attach]. Sort each item into the right tax category, find matching proof where you can, point out anything missing, and prepare a filing summary in the style my accountant or tax authority expects. Then gather every uncertain or ambiguous point into a separate question list for me to review. Before you do anything irreversible like sending, submitting, deleting, or paying, stop and ask for my approval.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
