Use Claude Code to plan and revise a Japan trip

A traveler used Claude Code to organize a 14-day Japan itinerary, create an offline trip page, and edit the plan from a phone while traveling.

What they did
They stored trip ideas and decisions in an Obsidian vault, then fed Claude Code details in small steps, one question at a time. They also kept track of suggestions, options they ruled out, and advice from friends, while asking Claude to review each city segment before locking it in. Claude built a private trip page for offline use, packaged as a single HTML file on Vercel, with day-by-day sections, QR codes for bookings, train help, taxi notes, and simple lists.
How it went
It handled a 14-day Kyoto-Hakone-Tokyo trip. During the journey, they could change timing, refresh the page, and update calendar items from a phone through the Claude session left open at home, often in just a few minutes. They also added one stop on the fly without first looking at the venue’s website, and it turned out to be shut.
Tips
If you want the page available offline, open it while you still have internet so the cache is set. Before adding a place, check the venue’s own hours or status first.

Help me plan a [number]-day trip to [destination] starting on [dates] with a budget of [amount] and interests in [interests]. Go step by step, asking me one question at a time, and keep notes on suggestions I accept, options I reject, and advice I get from friends. After each city, do a quick review of the schedule before moving on. Then create a private trip page in [folder] that works offline and includes daily sections, QR codes for bookings I paste in, transit guidance, taxi notes, and short lists. Make it easy to update a single day later and rebuild the page, but pause and ask before any payment, sending, deletion, or submission. Stop when I can open it on my phone.
