Let an agent read your notes and log a nightly entry
A writer used OpenClaw to scan an Obsidian vault, manage Spotify, and add a fresh journal note each evening.
- What they did
- Amir Bohlooli set up OpenClaw and spoke with it through Telegram. When he checked whether it could reach his Obsidian files, the agent installed obsidian-cli by itself and went through his journal. He also had it add shpotify, connect to Spotify, and respond to requests to start and stop songs. After that, he told it to make a new folder in the vault and place one original entry there every night.
- How it went
- The agent linked up with Obsidian and Spotify in a few minutes, and the nightly writing task did begin. The arrangement broke down when a small local LLM was used, and the agent dropped offline whenever his MacBook went to sleep.
- Tips
- Keep in mind that this setup only stays active while the computer is awake. The built-in Obsidian skill is best suited to macOS because it depends on Homebrew, while Windows users need another obsidian-cli option.
Try it yourself with OpenClaw
Using OpenClaw, connect to my Obsidian vault at [path] and review the journal notes stored in [folder] from the past [number] days. Each night at [time], create a brief reflective entry in a new folder called [folder name], based on patterns you notice in my writing. Do not change or remove any existing notes. Before you save the first new entry, show me the draft and wait for my approval so I can confirm the tone; only after that should you continue.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
