Automate cold email intros from lead websites

They set up n8n to pull leads, scan each site, and draft a custom opening line into a spreadsheet for outreach.

What they did
A developer rebuilt Nick Saraev’s n8n workflow and replaced the retired Apify Apollo scraper with Podcast Index leads. For every lead, the automation checks the homepage and up to two other relevant pages, then uses Claude through OpenRouter to pull three attributed details and write a first-line email opener into Google Sheets. The writer reviews each draft before any message can be sent.
How it went
Podcast Index produced about 40 workable leads for every 100 records, while the Apify feed yielded only 6 to 8. The AI portion cost around $0.006 for each good lead. Reply performance has not been tracked yet, and the generated intros still come across as dull.
Tips
The software stack around sending is far pricier than the writing step: Smartlead costs $39 a month, Google Workspace costs $8.40 for each inbox, and inbox warm-up can take weeks. If you use a similar setup, keep a human review step before outreach.

Try it yourself with n8n

Set up an n8n workflow that takes leads from [spreadsheet or lead source], opens the website listed in [website column], and writes a one-sentence personalized cold email opener about [what I offer] into a new column in the sheet. Check the homepage plus up to two other pages, extract three facts from those pages, and use them to draft the opener. Do not send any emails. Process the first 5 leads only, then pause and show me the facts and draft lines so I can approve the method before you continue. Before any irreversible action such as sending, submitting, deleting, or paying, ask for my confirmation.
