Use Replit Agent to ship an AI app in stages

A developer spent about 10 days building an AI app with Replit Agent, which handled much of the work but sometimes repeated old mistakes.

What they did
The author used Replit Agent for around 10 days to turn an AI app idea they had wanted for a long time into something working. They steered the process with prompts and let the agent take on major pieces of the build, including the app itself, server-side setup, database structure, deployment, and an admin screen. When needed, they also edited code by hand and asked the agent for product and systems guidance.
How it went
By the end, the app was done and performed better than expected. The agent often got them most of the way through a task and occasionally suggested useful interface improvements on its own. But it also brought back removed behavior, got trapped in repeated repair cycles, and sometimes said UI tests were fine even though basic actions still failed. The author says the $0.25 charge for each checkpoint or fix round can climb fast when the same problem keeps returning.
Tips
Use a standing list of rules for anything the agent must never change, and make it check that list before each edit. Don’t rely only on the agent’s test reports; confirm core flows yourself before you pay for another repair pass.

Try it yourself with Replit Agent

I want to build [describe your AI app] with Replit Agent. First, map out the main pieces and the order you’ll tackle them. Keep a file called RULES.md with my fixed constraints, including [behaviors that must stay gone], and review it before every code change. After each step, show me the diff, explain what changed, and confirm that earlier parts still work. If you’re about to deploy, submit, delete, send, or do anything else that can’t be easily undone, stop and ask me to approve it first. If you think a product or design choice matters, lay out the options and wait for my decision before continuing.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
