Use OpenClaw to prepare and enter a complicated tax return
They had OpenClaw piece together business records, draft the tax numbers, and coach them through TurboTax entry.
- What they did
- They loaded purchase agreements, K-1s, old tax filings from 2012 onward, bank records, and balance sheets into OpenClaw. The agent sorted the materials in time order, rebuilt the entity timeline and cost basis through LLC-to-S-corp changes and sales, and wrote a summary.md for the return. It then turned bank activity into a Schedule C P&L, checked TurboTax plan choices, and narrated each screen while the user clicked through the filing and fixed one transaction classification.
- How it went
- The finished return ran to 137 pages and showed $125K due to the federal government after $40K in estimated payments. They cut $500 from the TurboTax plan cost and about $3,700 through the annualized income method on Form 2210. Browser automation did not work, so the user had to handle TurboTax manually, and one K-1 ended up being estimated.
- Tips
- For a return this involved, keep a human in the loop for every filing step and check the prior-year work for mistakes. Expect some records to need judgment calls if the automation cannot verify them.
Try it yourself with OpenClaw
I’m working on a complex tax return for [tax year] in [tax software]. Use these documents: [bank exports], [purchase agreements], [K-1s], [prior returns], and [balance sheets]. Rebuild the business history and tax basis across any entity conversions or sales, then create a Schedule C P&L from the bank transactions and mark any unclear items for my review. After that, walk me through entering everything in [tax software] one screen at a time, and stop for my approval before any payment, filing, submission, deletion, or final send.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
