Use computer control to build a pizza cart
Let a computer-use agent open DoorDash, pick pizzas for a group, and stop before payment.
- What they did
- Anthropic engineers tried Claude’s computer-use feature, then in public beta on Claude 3.5 Sonnet, for a group food order. They had it move through DoorDash by itself and choose the pizzas. The setup details weren’t described beyond the request to get enough food for several people.
- How it went
- Roughly a minute later, Claude had settled on pizzas for the order, according to Alex Albert’s post on X. No price, item list, or success metric was shared. Anthropic says the tool is still experimental and can make mistakes.
- Tips
- Keep this kind of task on a locked-down virtual machine, with only the data and websites it needs. For anything sensitive, keep a person ready to review before checkout or any other final step.
Try it yourself with Claude computer use
Open [delivery site or app] on my computer and look for pizza places near [address] that can deliver. Pick [number] pizzas for a group of [number] people, following these preferences: [toppings, dietary needs]. Add them to the cart, then stop at the checkout page and show me the cart and total. Do not place the order or enter payment details without asking me first.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
