Use coding agents to audit and update ad accounts
A PPC marketer wired Claude Code and Codex into ad, analytics, and CRM data so they could draft account changes instead of only summarizing performance.
- What they did
- They set up scripts around Google’s APIs and kept each client in a separate folder that exposed Google Ads, GA4, Search Console, GTM, the site or CMS, CRM records, offline conversions, and sometimes Meta. Claude Code and Codex then pulled search term lists, spend reports, CRM outcomes, conversion actions, and tracking data, and used those files to suggest negatives, RSA updates, account restructures, and tracking fixes. The marketer checked the claims in the interface and only approved staged writes after review.
- How it went
- The workflow helped most with recurring weekly account maintenance and with spotting tracking or CRM problems that can look like ad issues. They did not report a measurable lift, and the biggest risk was bad output, so they only accepted conclusions backed by scripts, files, and manual cross-checks.
- Tips
- This kind of setup takes real prep: manager access, OAuth credentials, and a Google Ads developer token. It also helps to wait 48 hours after tracking changes before treating downstream numbers as reliable.
Try it yourself with Claude Code
I manage [number] ad accounts for [client type]. Connect to Google Ads, GA4, Search Console, [CRM], and [Meta Ads if used] through the credentials in [secure location]. Review the last [number] days of search terms, spend, conversion actions, CRM outcomes, and tracking data, then draft: 1) negative keywords, 2) RSA changes, 3) restructuring ideas, and 4) any tracking or attribution issues. For each suggestion, show the supporting data and explain your reasoning. Do not make any live edits yet. First show me a change plan and stop for my approval before you send, delete, submit, or publish anything.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
