Use Claude Cowork to log meals and health stats
A Claude Cowork skill can turn spoken meals into spreadsheet entries with nutrition totals and medical metrics.
- What they did
- The person created a Claude Cowork folder called “Health Related” on desktop and asked Claude to build both a spreadsheet and a tracking skill for diet targets and medical measurements. After turning on Dispatch, they could speak a meal into Claude on their phone, and it would search the web for nutrition, break the meal into individual items, and add protein, fat, carbs, and calories to the day’s .xlsx record. It also recorded weight and blood pressure.
- How it went
- The sheet produced itemized meal logs, daily totals versus goals, and a suggestion for how to use the remaining calories and protein later in the day. Setup took about eight minutes. The only issue mentioned was file format: Claude wrote to .xlsx, and the person was unsure whether Excel was required, though they did have Excel on a Mac.
- Tips
- Ask for a pause before any action that would change or submit data elsewhere, and make the target file path and metrics explicit. This works best if you want a simple daily log rather than a full-featured nutrition app.
Try it yourself with Claude Cowork
Create a tracking skill for my health folder at [file path]. Keep a daily spreadsheet for my meals and medical readings, including [weight], [blood pressure], and nutrition fields such as [calories], [protein], [fat], and [carbs]. When I message you a meal, look up the nutrition, split it into separate ingredients or items, and add the values to today’s row in the .xlsx file. After each update, show the itemized entry and the running daily totals against my targets. Before you change, delete, or submit anything, stop and ask me to confirm.
