Use Claude Code to sort back taxes from records

They used Claude Code to clean up overdue Dutch filings by pulling records, matching proof, and preparing tax totals.

Done with Claude Code· Advanced

What they did
They set up a local Python bookkeeping system for a Dutch business group with a holding company. Claude Code generated scripts that collected transaction history from the Revolut API and CSV exports from the bank, scanned Gmail for receipts and invoices, and grouped 330+ entries with model-assisted judgment. It also worked out VAT and other reporting figures, then passed 19 unclear items to the accountant instead of making the call itself.
How it went
The agent finished the job in one afternoon and output reports in the Dutch tax authority’s box structure. It lowered the accountant’s annual time from about 20 hours to 5, and it revealed that the shareholder-loan cap had been surpassed by EUR 11K. They still used the accountant for company tax, R&D credits, and annual accounts.
Tips
Let the agent gather and organize evidence, but keep a person in the loop for anything ambiguous. Ask it to pause before any irreversible change, including sending, deleting, renaming, or submitting files.

I’m [number] years behind on taxes in [country] for [entity type]. Work through the files in [folder path], along with my bank exports and receipt/invoice documents, to create a local bookkeeping workflow in [tool or language]. Pull together the transactions, link supporting documents, sort income and deductible costs by year, compute VAT and filing totals, and make a separate list of anything uncertain for manual review. Before you submit, send, delete, rename, or finalize anything, stop and ask for my approval. End with the reports needed in [tax format] and a checklist of items that still need human review.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
