Use Claude Code to replace a Shopify reviews app

They had Claude Code inspect Judge.me, outline a replacement, and then help carry out the change on a Shopify store.

What they did
They linked Claude Code to the shop with Shopify Admin API access and Shopify Dev MCP, then started a new chat asking it to study the code and learn how Judge.me behaved before suggesting a replacement design. After reviewing Claude’s ideas, they opted for Shopify Flow to handle review emails instead of Resend and continued with the build while the owner directed the choices and checked the results.
How it went
The planning and implementation were said to have finished in roughly four hours. A separate commenter in the same thread also described using Claude Code to create a wholesale store tied to accounting, but they did not explain how they did it or what came of it.
Tips
Set up permissions and guardrails first if you want the agent to behave more like a senior engineer. Ask for a written plan before any work that could affect payments, messages, or stored data.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

I run a Shopify store that uses [app name] for [task]. Connect to the store using the tools available, inspect the theme and code, and identify how this app operates on my site: what data it keeps, which templates or pages it changes, and what I’m paying for it each month. Then draft a step-by-step replacement plan with migration details, risks, and the parts you would build. Pause after the plan and wait for my approval before you edit, delete, send, pay for, or submit anything.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
