Use Claude Code to plan meals and track symptoms
They built a meal-and-symptom system in Claude Code that pulls nutrition data, organizes recipes, and helps spot possible food triggers.
- What they did
- They fed Claude Code recipes from cookbook photos, PDFs, and websites, then cleaned them up for portion changes and ingredient swaps. The agent looked up nutrition through the USDA API, saved the results, and used the library to suggest weekly meal mixes, make shopping lists, and create nutrition summaries. It also helped review logged digestive and eczema symptoms while they stayed involved.
- How it went
- It cut down meal-planning work and showed they were already covering most vitamins, which led them to skip a €100 monthly AG1 purchase and make smaller diet changes instead, with K2 supplements under consideration. After two weeks of symptom tracking, tomatoes were the first possible trigger, but they said the setup was still too early to trust on its own.
- Tips
- Keep a human in the loop for cart entry and final symptom interpretation. This works best as a planning and tracking aid, not a fully automated grocery or diagnosis system.
