Use an agent to look for stray funds and push for a refund

People used Meta’s Muse to search for unclaimed money and to press an insurer for money back on a canceled policy.

What they did
Eric Allen asked Meta’s Muse to dig through state unclaimed-property records for any money tied to his name, and he also had it run the same check for his wife. In another case, Frank Chien used Muse to handle a call with Amtrust about ending a workers’ comp policy and asking for a refund. When that attempt did not solve the issue, the agent suggested another way to try.
How it went
Allen’s check finished in about six minutes and surfaced roughly $730 in store credit, a $272 refund, and around $800 for his wife. Chien ended up saving about $800. Muse’s calling feature is still in early access, and Meta has also experimented with having humans handle some calls.
Tips
If an agent needs account access, weigh the privacy tradeoff before linking bank data or using Plaid. For any cancellation or refund request, have it pause before it commits to a final decision or sends anything on your behalf.

Try it yourself with Meta Muse

Help me look for unclaimed money and possible refunds for [person or household]. Start by checking state unclaimed-property databases for matches connected to [name], and report each likely result with the amount and source. Then, if I want to continue, help me contact [insurer/company] about [policy/bill/cancellation] and ask whether any refund or credit is available. Stop and ask for my approval before you submit, agree to, cancel, or send anything, and if the first method does not work, propose another way to pursue the same money.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
