Cut support research time with Zapier Agents

Use an agent to gather ticket context before a rep answers, and let automation cover simple opening replies.

What they did
Corey Smith, who works on support at ClickUp, created a workflow that gathers background on a case before a person replies. Mercari also used Zapier to assemble an AI support system that can take over initial customer responses.
How it went
For ClickUp, the pre-reply research step shrank from 15 minutes to 4 minutes per ticket, which works out to roughly 917 hours saved each month across 5,000+ tickets. Mercari says its setup now deals with opening replies for 97% of tickets and clears about 47,000 tasks monthly without human intervention.
Tips
This is a good fit when the same kinds of questions keep coming back and the agent can pull from trusted internal sources. The public summaries do not explain the build in detail, so read the full ClickUp and Mercari case studies before trying to reproduce either system.

Try it yourself with Zapier Agents

Set up a Zapier Agent for my support queue. When a new case appears in [Zendesk/Intercom/Help Scout], check [knowledge base], [past tickets], and [internal docs] for clues, then write a short internal note with the likely issue, useful links, and a draft reply. Do not contact the customer yet. If the next action would send, delete, submit, or charge anything, pause and ask me to approve it first. Treat the task as complete only after a test ticket generates a helpful note in under [5] minutes.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
