Use a team chat agent to spin up client prototypes

A small software shop let Hermes watch team chat and connected it to their repo and server tools so it could draft prospect prototypes after approval.

What they did
A 20-person software shop ran Hermes on a VPS with root access and linked it to their IRC chat, codebase, Cloudflare, nginx, and custom MCP wrappers. They spent a couple of days adjusting the setup, first having it create skills and test cases, then using it for tasks like PR-review alerts, client status pings, daily iOS and APK builds, and quick prototype work for potential clients. For those prototype requests, Hermes would restate the understood request and wait for the owner to say yes before acting.
How it went
The poster says Hermes now takes over most of the manual work in those routines and gives the setup an 8/10. They also ran into three issues: it often took trial and error to pick the right skill, Slack handoff from the CLI could fail because of the SQLite database, and token usage was high.
Tips
This kind of setup needs a short tuning period before it becomes dependable. Keep approval steps in place for anything that changes production, public DNS, or outbound messages.

Try it yourself with Hermes Agent

Connect to our team chat on [IRC or Slack channel] and link yourself to [repo], [Cloudflare project], and [nginx server]. When someone asks for a prototype for a possible client, summarize the request back to the channel and wait for a teammate to approve it before you act. After approval, create the work in [new branch or workspace], make a preview at [preview URL pattern], and share the link in chat. Stop and ask for confirmation before you deploy to production, update DNS, change nginx settings, send messages outside the team, or delete anything.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
