Use Canvas to tidy modules, dates, and course pages
An in-Canvas agent helps instructors rename modules, update due dates in bulk, and rebuild pages from simple requests.
- What they did
- Instructure’s IgniteAI Agent is built into Canvas, where an instructor can type a plain-language goal and let the assistant handle the steps through Canvas APIs. It can standardize module names and formatting, adjust deadlines across several assignments, and recreate course pages with custom HTML. The agent only moves ahead after checking in, so the instructor can review what it plans to do.
- How it went
- The source does not give any measured time savings or other totals. One Hinds Community College user, Brandon Mitchell, said they use it to build modules, create pages, and clean up accessibility.
- Tips
- This feature is available only on the Canvas Next tier, not Core or Plus. For any change that could affect a live course, have the agent preview the edits and ask for approval before it applies them.

You are helping me manage a Canvas course. Using my Canvas access for [sandbox course ID], review all modules, due dates, and course pages, then propose a clean naming scheme based on [naming pattern], list every due-date adjustment needed to shift deadlines by [number] days, and draft any page rebuilds needed for [goal]. Show me a clear table of the planned changes first. Stop and wait for my approval before you make any change that would affect students, submit anything, or overwrite existing content. After I approve, apply the approved edits and then report what changed.
