Convert YouTube videos into linked research notes

Claude Code can gather YouTube videos into NotebookLM, then export cited notes, a graph, audio, and flashcards into Obsidian.

What they did
They made a Claude Code skill that operated NotebookLM from the command line. Using ytcli, they found 20 YouTube videos, started a fresh notebook, and added those videos as sources. After that, they asked for answers in cited JSON, then wrote the output into an Obsidian vault as source pages, topic pages, and linked references. They also produced an audio overview and a flashcard deck.
How it went
The workflow left them with a navigable knowledge graph, an audio overview that could be played on their phone, and 58 flashcards. Their review found that about 60% of the citations were strong, 31% were partial, and roughly 10-15% were weak.
Tips
Treat the citations as leads and confirm them before using them in your own work. Expect the first setup to take around 15 minutes, and plan to have Claude Code, Obsidian, and a Google account ready.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

I have these YouTube links or search results for [topic]: [links]. Use them to build a research package in [folder path]. For each video, create a note with a short summary and timestamp-based citations, then add a cross-video note that connects recurring ideas, plus [number] flashcards. Put the files in my vault with internal links and keep the sources traceable. Before any action that would send, publish, delete, or overwrite something, show me the exact change and wait for my approval. Stop only after all notes and flashcards are saved.
