Build a Slack-to-Claude Code task router
Use Claude to watch messages and transcripts, extract tasks, and draft Claude Code prompts for review.
- What they did
- A company asked for a standing Claude agent to sit between their communication streams and their coding workflow. Their Claude enterprise setup already linked to Slack, meeting recordings and transcripts, a warehouse of company data, an internal reference base, Google Workspace, and other internal systems, and they wanted the agent to keep scanning for requests, turn those into Claude Code instructions, and let a human approve or edit them before anything ran.
- How it went
- There was no finished deployment or measured outcome from the original ask, because it was a request for advice. One commenter described a related always-on Slack integration that launched Claude Code in headless mode from thread activity and said it was a "total game changer," but did not share metrics. Others cautioned that the workflow needs strong deduping, a read-only first pass, and careful review gates or quality can slip.
- Tips
- Keep the discovery step separate from the action step so the agent only identifies work and drafts a plan at first. Build in a check that stops before any send, submit, delete, or write operation, and merge repeated asks that show up in both chat and transcript sources.
Try it yourself with Claude
Act as my task-finding and prompt-drafting agent. Watch [Slack channels], [meeting transcripts], and [connected company tools] for anything that looks like a request, follow-up, or assignment. When you find a distinct task, write a Claude Code prompt that captures the objective, the surrounding context, and the next code-related step to take. Do not change files, message anyone, delete anything, submit anything, or make external updates yet; keep the first pass read-only. Present each draft to me and stop for approval before any irreversible action, including sending, deleting, submitting, or writing changes. If the same request shows up in more than one source, combine it into one item and note the duplicates.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
