Turn receipts and file piles into usable drafts
An agent organized receipts, picked useful files from a large set, and drafted slide content for review.
- What they did
- Ruben Hassid, who says he is not technical, used Cowork to sort 47 travel receipts into an expense report with dates, merchants, categories, and totals. He also pointed it at 4,992 files from his publisher and asked it to surface the ones most worth his attention, with reasons. For presentations, he had Cowork interview him about the outline, generate the text, and hand it off to Gamma through an MCP connection.
- How it went
- The receipt set became an Excel spreadsheet that listed every item and calculated the totals. Three receipts were too hard to read, so he filled in those blanks himself. He said the process took about 10 minutes, rather than 2 hours by his older method.
- Tips
- Cowork depends on the Claude desktop app and a Pro subscription at $17/month, and a commenter said it only worked on macOS at that point. The receipt workflow was not independently shown, so that part comes from his account.
Try it yourself with Claude Cowork
I have [number] receipts from [trip or date range] in [folder path]. Review each one and create an expense spreadsheet with the date, merchant, category, amount, and category totals. Mark any receipt that is unreadable or missing information so I can fill it in myself. Pause and ask for my approval before you export, send, submit, or share anything, and keep everything local until I confirm.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
