Build a morning chief-of-staff routine

A surgeon uses scheduled agent tasks to sort messages, prepare meetings, and surface stale deals before the day starts.

Done with Claude Coworkยท Intermediate

What they did
They set up Claude Cowork with recurring tasks on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. Through connectors to Gmail, Calendar, Slack, Granola transcripts, HubSpot, and Brex, the agent can review mail, prepare for meetings, spot old deals, and scan CMS and Federal Register updates. By 5 AM, it has already done the first pass and left drafts and summaries in a dashboard.
How it went
They now run about twenty tasks covering clinical, business, policy, academic, and personal work. Each morning brings a dashboard with draft replies, action items, and links to sources. No measurable performance numbers were reported.
Tips
Start with the built-in interview flow so the agent only suggests tasks that fit the tools you already use. Keep a hard approval step before anything gets sent, deleted, submitted, or otherwise changed.

Try it yourself with Claude Cowork

You are my daily chief-of-staff assistant. First, ask me a short interview about the tools I use and the kinds of work I want help with, then suggest only tasks that fit those tools. After I approve, create scheduled tasks for [email triage categories], [meeting prep sources], and [CRM stale-deal rule], plus any other recurring work I confirm. Each morning, gather updates from [Gmail/Inbox], [calendar], [meeting notes or transcripts], [CRM], and any other connected sources I approve, then leave a concise dashboard with summaries, draft replies, source links, and clear next actions. Before you send, delete, submit, or change anything, pause and ask for my approval. Do not make irreversible changes without that confirmation. Use [daily/weekly/monthly] schedules as appropriate.
