Turn receipt photos into ledger entries

They used a chat bot to read receipt images, pull out key expense details, and stage them for review in a ledger.

Done with Custom agent· Intermediate

What they did
A builder created AICountant as a bot for Telegram and Discord. After a user links one of those accounts, they send a receipt photo and the agent extracts the vendor, amount, tax, category, and date, then records the expense so it can be checked before export to CSV.
How it went
The tool was already working, and the creator was looking for beta testers to see how people actually used it. They wanted receipts from many countries, layouts, and industries to spot where extraction still failed.
Tips
Use a varied test set so you can see which receipt styles cause trouble. Have the agent mark unreadable fields instead of filling them in by guesswork.

Try it yourself with n8n

Build a workflow that listens for receipt images sent to my [Telegram/Discord] bot. For each image, read the receipt and extract the vendor, total amount, tax, expense category, and date, then add the entry to [my ledger or spreadsheet] for review. Test it on [3] sample receipt photos and show me the entries it would create. If any field is unclear, stop and ask for confirmation before saving or exporting anything.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
