Automate inbox checks, research digests, and site audits
Jenny Ouyang uses two OpenClaw agents with scheduled jobs to scan email, draft research digests, and monitor a website.
- What they did
- Jenny Ouyang runs two OpenClaw agents on a single Oracle Cloud ARM server. One acts as a memory-backed personal assistant, while the other helps build and maintain a site she shares with her business partner. She set up 12 cron jobs to handle tasks like inbox scanning, article indexing, research summaries, Search Console checks, site audits, and general health monitoring. Twice a day, one job reviews new newsletter posts, looks through her memory store for related work, and writes the matches to a database and a Markdown report that she can inspect in Telegram or GitHub. She still writes every comment herself.
- How it went
- The inbox-review workflow has been useful for her. The jobs do not hand off to one another yet, so some steps still need manual coordination. During debugging, one agent cleared a database because of a seed conflict, and she recovered it from backups.
- Tips
- Use tightly limited credentials, including no DROP permission, and keep backups running automatically. Bind the gateway to localhost, and expect setup to take longer than the docs imply.
Try it yourself with OpenClaw
Set up scheduled OpenClaw jobs for me on [server or cloud host]. I need one job to check my inbox at [email account] every [time interval] and look for items that relate to work in my memory store; another to generate a research digest on [topic] every [time interval]; and another to audit [website URL] for broken links, slow pages, and health issues every [time interval]. Save each run to [database or files] and send a short summary to me in [chat app]. Before you send, delete, archive, submit, or change anything permanent, pause and ask me to approve it first. After setup, show me the schedule and stop.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
