Scan commits for security bugs before they land

Use Claude Code to inspect each commit for secrets, injection flaws, and migration risks before it reaches the repository.

What they did
A developer wired Manta into a local git hook so it reviews commits before they are recorded. The setup spins up 11 Claude Code CLI agents to search for exposed secrets, web security issues like SQL and XSS injection, async and query mistakes, code quality problems, and migration changes that could cause trouble. When a commit looks unsafe, the tool can halt it and point to a possible fix, but a person still needs to judge anything complicated.
How it went
The benefit is catching dangerous changes earlier, before they land in the repo. Manta is free, open source, and uses Claude Sonnet through the Claude Code free tier, but it is not standalone and it adds a few seconds to commit time.
Tips
Treat the output as a filter, not the final word, especially for business logic and edge cases. You will need Claude Code CLI available locally, and the pre-commit step will slow each commit a little.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

Create a pre-commit check for [repo path] that uses Claude Code to review the staged changes before a commit can finish. Ask it to flag hardcoded secrets, SQL/command/XSS injection risks, unsafe migration edits, and obvious async or query issues. If it finds a problem, block the commit and report the file, line number, and a short fix. Show me the script first and pause for approval before installing it or making any irreversible changes.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
