Use an agent to start a Pokémon Silver run
A user let ChatGPT Agent control a Pokémon Silver emulator, pick a starter, and begin a playthrough while they watched and streamed.
- What they did
- The user opened Pokémon Silver in an emulator and handed control to ChatGPT, which they called Lyric, through Computer Use. Instead of just asking for tips, they had it act directly in the game while they played alongside it. The agent picked Totodile, gave it the name Riptide, and started the run so the session could be shown through OBS.
- How it went
- It was enough to get the game moving and complete the starter choice. But setup, menuing, repeated conversations, and basic movement burned through a lot of the Computer Use quota before much actual play happened.
- Tips
- Computer Use can be wasteful on games that require lots of repeated inputs, especially on Plus-plan limits. It also may not show how much time or allowance is left, or when it refreshes.
Try it yourself with ChatGPT Agent
Open [game name] in the emulator on my desktop, with the ROM already loaded. Choose [starter/character option], then play for about [number] minutes: continue dialogue, move through the early area, and stop at [milestone]. Keep a brief text log of what you do. Before any irreversible action like saving over progress, deleting anything, making a purchase, or submitting a choice, pause and ask for my approval first. Do not change system settings or download files unless I say yes first.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
