Turn Pac-Man into a two-player cabinet build
Claude Code changed Pac-Man into a horizontal co-op version and transferred it to a Mistercade cabinet.
- What they did
- Benj Edwards gave Claude Code one prompt with the game changes he wanted and the cabinet’s local-network IP address. He asked for Pac-Man to fit a horizontal screen, add two-player co-op, make Ms. Pac-Man the second player, and assign one button as a speed boost. The agent handled the rest without any described back-and-forth.
- How it went
- Roughly two hours later, Claude said the game was installed and ready to use on the Mistercade cabinet. The post doesn’t say whether any bugs showed up or whether anything had to be adjusted afterward.
- Tips
- If you try this, be specific about the target hardware and which controls should do what. Have the agent pause for your approval before it changes files, overwrites builds, or sends anything to a device.
Try it yourself with Claude Code
I have an open-source [game/project] in [folder or repo URL]. Modify it for [target device/display], with these changes: [list gameplay or control changes, such as a second playable character and a speed boost]. Make sure it runs in the format my [cabinet/device name] expects, and verify it locally if you can. Before you overwrite files, delete anything, or copy the build to the device, stop and show me the plan for approval. After that, tell me exactly what changed and how to install it on [device name or IP address].
