Import recipes into Grocy and pick leftover-friendly dinners

They had Claude Cowork enter scaled recipes into Grocy, then used it to find dinners that would use up perishables already in stock.

What they did
They linked Claude Cowork’s computer access to a Grocy instance running through Home Assistant, then handed over recipes from books and websites. Claude keyed the recipes into Grocy, adjusted each one to serve four, and created the related product categories while they focused on other work. After that, they tested meal selection by asking for three dinners first, then letting Claude choose two more.
How it went
Claude completed the recipe imports and built the product groups, though a few entries needed small corrections. With the pantry treated as nearly empty, it chose two meals that used up perishables and added the needed ingredients to the Grocy shopping list. Sending those items into an online grocery basket has not been tested.
Tips
Plan to inspect the imported recipes and make a few fixes. If you want it to change existing data, have it ask before it overwrites anything.

Try it yourself with Claude Cowork

Open my Grocy site at [Grocy URL] in Chrome using Claude Cowork. Take the recipes I provide from [links or pasted text] and enter them into Grocy, adjusting each recipe to [number] servings. Then review my current stock and select [number] dinners that make use of the perishables I already have. Put the missing ingredients on the shopping list, and stop to ask for approval before you overwrite, remove, or submit anything that cannot be undone. Let me know once the recipes and list are ready.
