Purge old installers and export a video transcript

Microsoft Scout cleared unused setup files after asking first, then used a fallback tool chain to extract a transcript when the web path stalled.

Done with Microsoft Scout· Intermediate

What they did
The person ran Microsoft Scout on a Windows 11 machine and pointed it at the Downloads folder to find old installation files. Scout checked the items, got permission before acting, and then used PowerShell to delete them. For the transcript job, a browser sign-in problem got in the way, so Scout added an open-source utility, created and ran Python code, and kept testing options until it wrote the transcript into a working folder.
How it went
It removed 31 installers and recovered 4.4 GB. It also produced the transcript after the browser option could not get through.
Tips
Bring IT in early, since this needs a Frontier organization and an Intune policy to set up. It also draws on GitHub Copilot Business or Enterprise credits.

Try it yourself with Microsoft Scout

Review [Downloads folder] for old installer packages I no longer need, such as [file types]. List the candidates with their sizes and the total space they take, then pause and wait for my OK before removing any of them. After that, try to retrieve the transcript for [YouTube link] and store it in [folder] as a plain text file. If the browser route is blocked, install a suitable open-source tool, tell me what you added, and use another safe method to finish the job.
