Use past orders to build your grocery cart

An Instacart assistant filled a cart from prior shopping history, then added meal ingredients and pointed out missing store items.

What they did
Aly Walansky, who has used Instacart since the pandemic, asked Clementine to start with a store and then shop the items she usually buys. She also snapped a photo of a paper grocery list so it could be imported, and described a roast chicken dinner so the assistant could suggest anything missing. Before paying, she checked the quantities, swaps, and prices, then changed the cart herself.
How it went
The assistant assembled 27 items from her order history and identified which regular items the store did not carry, along with similar options. For the roast chicken meal, it suggested extra sides and lemons based on what was already in the cart.
Tips
This works best when the account has a long order record to draw from. Keep a close eye on substitutions and final checkout, since the person still needs to judge whether the suggestions fit the meal.
