Use Gemini to sort through VA claim records

A veteran had Gemini comb through thousands of VA pages and pull out the records that could support a disability claim.

Done with Gemini· Intermediate· Apr 2026

What they did
They pulled their Blue Button records from va.gov and uploaded around 9,000 pages into Google Gemini. They asked it to find material that could help with a claim, and it highlighted the relevant pages, visit dates, and items such as chiropractor appointments. They then used those pointers while filing, instead of reading through the entire file themselves.
How it went
They say the claim was resolved in about a month after filing, ending with a decision letter. They also say the same method helped another veteran get a 70% rating in two months. The main concern they raised was privacy, since some older veterans did not want to put their records into AI tools.
Tips
This is most useful when the file is too large to review manually. Keep the originals handy and use the output as a guide, not the final word.

Try it yourself with Gemini

I’m uploading roughly [number] pages of VA medical and service records for a [claim type]. Please search the documents for anything that supports [specific condition or claim point]. For each relevant item, list the page number, the date, and a short note or quotation that shows why it matters. Organize the findings by condition, call out any contradictions or missing pieces, and end with a brief summary I can verify against the source files. If anything would send, submit, delete, or otherwise commit changes, stop and ask me before continuing.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
