Use Devin to push backlog work into pull requests

Ryan Carson used Devin across several tools to turn backlog items into pull requests faster.

Done with Devin· Intermediate· Mar 2026

What they did
Ryan paid $500 for Devin and connected it to his GitHub, Linear, Slack, browser, and iPhone. From there, they could assign coding work from whichever tool was at hand while Devin handled the task across the connected surfaces. It replaced an earlier setup built from Open Inspect, Codex, and Linear.
How it went
The result was more pull requests shipped than before. Ryan also had a one-week full-use trial, alongside the $500 cost.
Tips
Give the agent access only to the systems it needs, and use a clear handoff for each task. Ask it to stop after opening a PR and wait for approval before merging or changing anything else.

Try it yourself with Devin

Take the backlog item at [issue link or description] in [repo name] and work it through to a pull request. Use the connected tools you need, make the code changes, run the checks you can, and write a short PR summary. Stop once the pull request is open, then wait for my approval before merging, submitting, deleting, or paying for anything.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
