Turn transcripts and documents into finished files with Codex
A guide used Codex to draft a transcript summary, assemble an Excel revenue model, and create carousel images from a document.
- What they did
- They put Codex in everyday-work mode instead of coding mode and directed it toward a local folder. In one example, it reviewed two transcript files and produced a Word document summary. In another, it created a revenue model from a brief instruction, and it also converted a document into four carousel slides, first as HTML and then as image outputs when the user requested image generation.
- How it went
- The Word summary was completed in about five minutes. The Excel build finished in 3 minutes 46 seconds, and a second prompt fixed an import-formatting issue. The carousel images also took about five minutes.
- Tips
- For this kind of document work, the guide recommended medium reasoning, reserving high reasoning for code-focused tasks. Keep an eye on the Usage tab, since Codex can spend credits faster than regular chat.
Try it yourself with Codex
Switch to everyday-work mode and open [folder path]. Read [transcript file(s)] and draft a Word file with a summary, key decisions, and action items sorted by owner. Then make an Excel revenue model from [source file or assumptions] using [revenue drivers], plus a short assumptions sheet. After that, turn [document path] into [number] carousel slides; first create HTML slides, then make image files if I ask for them. Stop after each stage and ask me to approve before you save, export, send, delete, or submit anything. If you have to make a guess, list it and wait for my reply before moving on.
