Let an AI agent inspect a Windows crash dump

Use MCP to give an AI agent structured crash details from a Windows dump so it can track down the fault and propose a fix.

Done with Custom agent· Intermediate

What they did
A developer paired ForensicDbg with an AI agent through its MCP server over stdio. ForensicDbg is built for x86 and x64 Windows crash dumps, and it presents the agent with labeled findings like the failing thread, the key frames, the bad instruction, checked call stacks, and inferred type information, rather than forcing it to parse the raw dump itself.
How it went
In one example on the product page, the agent traced the problem to a selection routine in a text window and concluded that a null check was missing. It suggested adding a guard. The page does not report benchmark numbers, token usage, or any other performance data.
Tips
The tool is still in private beta, so you need an invitation to try it. There is also a separate MCP setup guide, which you should follow before expecting the agent to connect cleanly.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

I have a Windows crash dump stored at [file path]. Use the debugger or MCP connection you can reach from here to investigate it. Tell me the most likely cause of the crash, the call sequence that leads to it, and any symbol names or source locations that help support your conclusion. Summarize the evidence you relied on, then pause and wait for my approval before you create, send, delete, or submit any code changes.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
