Use a browser agent for setup tasks that come up while coding
A developer keeps coding in Claude Code while Claude in Chrome handles related web settings changes in the browser.
- What they did
- One commenter described splitting the work between two agents: they stayed in Claude Code for the programming side and sent Claude in Chrome to deal with website configuration. The browser agent would open settings pages, change options, and report back, while the person watched closely in case a page lost focus or a keystroke landed in the wrong place.
- How it went
- This cut down on back-and-forth between the editor and the browser and turned setup requests from a coding session into finished web changes. The tradeoff was reliability: commenters mentioned skipped clicks, swallowed keystrokes, and having to inspect screenshots or take over manually. They also noted that browser actions use plan limits faster than regular chat, so the workflow can get expensive.
- Tips
- Keep a close eye on the browser session and be ready to step in if a page behaves oddly. Use it for setup work that is tedious but reversible, and have the agent pause before any save, delete, or submit action.
Try it yourself with Claude in Chrome
I’m working on [project] and need browser setup done in [service]. Please open the logged-in site, navigate to the right settings pages, and make these changes: [list of configuration steps]. Stop before any irreversible action such as saving, deleting, or submitting, and ask me to confirm first. When you finish, report every change you made and give me any values I need to paste back into my code.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
