Turn statements and school calendars into calendar-friendly updates

People used Claude to write monthly finance summaries and to convert school schedule photos into shared iCal events.

Done with Claude· Intermediate· Oct 2026

What they did
One person set up a Claude workspace for personal finance. Each month, they put account statements in a folder, and Claude turned them into a multi-page update covering investment performance, net worth changes, and major market news. Another person fed Claude photos of a school year calendar and newsletters, and it produced iCal invites with two reminders plus all-day blocks for no-school days.
How it went
The finance flow produced a few pages each month. The calendar flow filled a shared calendar that their son also began using. No accuracy numbers were shared.
Tips
This works best if your statements are already organized into a repeatable folder system, and if your school calendar source is a clear photo or scan. For calendar imports, have the agent pause and ask you to review any uncertain dates before it creates or changes events.

Try it yourself with Claude

I want to use Claude for two jobs.

1) Finance summary: I’ll give you [monthly statements] and a list of [assets and debts]. Summarize this month’s investment performance, explain the change in my net worth, and note any important market events. If anything is unclear, ask before you finalize the summary.

2) School calendar import: I’ll give you [photos or scans of a school calendar/newsletter]. Extract all dates and convert them into an .ics file for [calendar app]. Add reminders [2 days before] and [2 hours before]. Mark no-school days as all-day events. Before you create or submit anything that would send, publish, delete, or overwrite events, show me the proposed changes and wait for my approval. List any dates you’re not fully confident about.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
