Generate editable CAD models from a text prompt

An agent can draft a 3D part from plain language, then let you fine-tune key measurements before export.

Done with Claude· Intermediate

What they did
A developer built a CAD workflow where a person describes the part in words, with optional image references, and Claude turns that into OpenSCAD code. The model is executed in the browser, a Three.js preview appears live, and important dimensions are surfaced as sliders so the design can be adjusted locally instead of regenerated. The tool can also export the finished model as STL, SCAD, or DXF.
How it went
In the README gallery, single prompts produced items like knurled knobs, threaded bolts, and a V8 engine with 22 adjustable dimensions. The project does not provide accuracy figures or failure statistics.
Tips
Self-hosting requires Node, the Supabase CLI, ngrok for webhooks, plus your own API keys. If you want to test it quickly, the hosted demo at adam.new/cadam is available without installing anything.

Try it yourself with Claude Code

Act as my CAD assistant. I’ll give you a part in [plain English] and, if needed, [reference images]. First, ask for any missing measurements. Then write [OpenSCAD or CadQuery] code with all key sizes exposed as named variables at the top, run it, and show me the result in a browser preview. Before you export, download, submit, or otherwise finalize anything, stop and ask for my approval. After I approve, save [STL, SCAD, or DXF] to [folder] and list every parameter I can edit.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
