Try Operator for ordering and spreadsheet setup
A reporter asked Operator to get ice cream delivered and make a schedule spreadsheet, but the agent needed supervision and still slipped up.
- What they did
- Bloomberg reporter Rachel Metz put OpenAI’s browser agent, Operator, to work while keeping an eye on it the entire time. She used it for two tasks: arranging an ice cream delivery and putting together a schedule spreadsheet. As it worked, the agent asked her to fill in missing details, share payment information, and approve the purchase before it went through.
- How it went
- The ice cream did arrive, but only after she helped steer the process. The schedule sheet often contained incorrect information, and Metz said the tool was slow. OpenAI says Operator has a hard time with more complex web interfaces, including slideshows and calendars.
- Tips
- Use it with close monitoring, especially when money is involved. It was limited to the $200 per month ChatGPT Pro plan and still required confirmation for important actions.
