Track new dev tools and assemble project-ready kits
A developer used Claude Code to watch AI dev-tool sources, rank each result, and create a toolkit with a CLAUDE.md for a chosen project.
- What they did
- They created a site with Claude Code that continually checks GitHub, Reddit, X, Hacker News, blogs, and startup posts for newly surfaced AI developer tools. Claude Code coordinated the work across three separate sessions: one for server-side scraping, one for the site, and one for a retrieval layer, while the scan and labeling jobs ran with Claude CLI on a VM. Every hit was sorted into a category and given a legitimacy score before being stored.
- How it went
- By the time they posted about it, the system had collected 329 resources across 14 categories, and access was free. The Toolkit Generator could surface useful but non-obvious tools for a specific project and output both a CLAUDE.md and install steps, though the post did not include larger-scale performance results.
- Tips
- Start with a narrow source list and verify the scoring on a small batch before letting the scraper run all the time. Include a pause for approval before any step that sends data, installs software, or overwrites files.
Try it yourself with Claude Code
Set up a small agent workflow that watches [sources] for new [type of dev tools]. For each item, sort it into [category list], rate how trustworthy it appears, and save the result to [folder or database]. Then build a project toolkit for [project name] that includes a CLAUDE.md and install instructions. Before any step that would send data out, install packages, overwrite files, or publish anything, stop and ask me to approve it first. After the first complete run, show me the output and suggest the next step for making it repeat on a schedule.
Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
