Text DoorDash to rebuild your usual order
A DoorDash agent in Apple Messages can fetch past orders, assemble a cart, and wait for your approval before checking out.
- What they did
- DoorDash put a custom agent inside Apple Messages that links your phone number to your DoorDash account. When someone texts a request like “order my usual,” it looks at past orders and preferences, checks nearby places, reads menus, and drafts a cart. It can also handle group orders with different dietary needs, then waits in the chat for the customer to confirm before paying with the saved card.
- How it went
- The feature is in a U.S. beta and access is currently through a waitlist. Bloomberg’s test of an early build found some prices that did not match the app; DoorDash says waitlist users will receive a newer version.
- Tips
- Compare the prices and total against the DoorDash app before approving anything. Use it only if you can join the waitlist and want the order held until you say yes.
Try it yourself with Operator
Using my DoorDash account tied to this phone number, look at my past orders and preferences for [restaurant or cuisine]. Recreate my usual order of [items], and adjust it for these dietary needs: [needs]. Search nearby options, show me the proposed cart, delivery address, and total in this chat, and pause for my approval before you do anything that would place the order or charge my saved payment method.
