Research speakers and sort your browser tabs
One person used Comet to study conference speakers, compare camera products, and clean up messy tabs.
- What they did
- Jason Howell opened Perplexity’s Comet browser, which can read the tabs already open. He first fed it an email with the first 50 HumanX speakers, then asked it to pull the agenda, look up each speaker, and pull out common themes and likely podcast guests. For a separate task, he opened three camera pages and had Comet turn the specs into a markdown table. He also asked it to organize a cluttered browser by grouping related pages and removing duplicates.
- How it went
- Comet identified speakers that would work well as podcast guests and produced a neat camera comparison table without getting distracted by unrelated tabs. It grouped articles and recipes, then cleared duplicate tabs and blank ones after a follow-up. In another scheduling test, it picked the wrong email recipient.
- Tips
- This kind of tool works best when it can see the pages you already have open, but that access is also the main trade-off. It’s worth checking the output carefully, since this review came after only 24 hours of use.
Try it yourself with Perplexity Comet
I’m planning for [conference name]. Using my open tabs and the speaker list at [URL or pasted list], research the first [number] speakers and make a table with each person’s role, organization, and main topic. Then pull out the shared themes and recommend [number] speakers who would be strong podcast guests. Separately, compare the three camera pages I have open and build a markdown spec table from them. Also, sort my browser tabs into sensible groups, remove duplicates, and flag any blank tabs. Before you close, delete, submit, send, or purchase anything, stop and ask me to approve it first.
