Redline contract text inside Word

A lawyer used Claude in Word to edit clauses and answer comments with tracked revisions on a 30-page document.

What they did
Stephen Smith added the Claude for Word extension and opened a 30-page file in suggested-edits mode. He had it revise two parts of the document and work through a chain of comments. For each comment thread, Claude checked the attached text, updated it as a tracked change, and added a reply explaining the revision. Smith then looked over the results in Word’s review pane.
How it went
He completed the task in a single morning and never had to leave Word. The changes appeared as native tracked revisions, and he thought they were cleaner than Copilot’s version. He said direct side-by-side comparisons are still only beginning to surface.
Tips
This feature is still in beta and requires a Claude Team or Enterprise plan. Anthropic warns against feeding it untrusted outside files because of prompt injection, and the add-in does not yet tie into audit logs.

Try it yourself with Claude

I’m working on a [document type] for [client/side]. Please revise [specific sections or clause numbers] so they better support that position, and answer each existing comment with a short suggested response. Show every change as Microsoft Word tracked changes, keep the rest of the file unchanged, and stop before any irreversible step such as sending, submitting, deleting, or finalizing. Ask for my approval first, then give me a brief summary of what you changed and anything that still needs a person to decide.
