Have Claude review a housing court filing in a fresh chat

A commenter used Claude to rewrite a housing-court brief, but separate chats produced opposite interpretations of the same case.

What they did
After Grok caused them to miss a key filing, the poster turned to Claude to help draft an opposition in a housing dispute. They opened a new chat and asked Claude to assess the case as an experienced housing lawyer, which shifted the draft toward admitting the plaintiff’s errors. In another new chat, they gave a similar attorney-style request and got a version that blamed the defendant instead.
How it went
Instead of a clear filing plan, they ended up with two conflicting rewrites of the same document. The thread also showed that a new Claude chat did not retain earlier case details unless the user stayed in the same thread or re-sent the material.
Tips
For court work, keep all relevant facts, filings, and timeline details in one thread or re-upload them each time. Treat the output as a draft to compare against court rules or a licensed attorney before filing.

Try it yourself with Claude

Act as an experienced [housing / landlord-tenant] attorney in [state or court system]. I’ll paste the facts, deadlines, and any draft filing below. Review the case like you are preparing for court: identify the key issues, likely strengths and weaknesses, any procedural steps or deadlines I may have missed, and suggest a clearer version of my filing. If anything would change what I should submit, pause and ask me to confirm before making those changes. Also flag anything that should be checked against local rules or a licensed lawyer before I file it. [Paste case details, documents, and draft here.]
