Use LinkedIn posts to build a reviewable outreach list

A writer had Perplexity Comet find laid-off LinkedIn prospects and prepare custom messages from a logged-in account.

What they did
Joanna Stern asked the Comet sidebar assistant to search LinkedIn for posts from people who had lost customer service jobs to AI and then draft outreach notes for them. It looked through posts and comments, collected names and profile links, and wrote message drafts in the sidebar. She kept control of the process and edited everything herself instead of letting it send anything automatically.
How it went
In less than a minute, it returned a short list of names and links with draft outreach ready to check. Comet could have sent the messages if screenshot mode had been enabled on the LinkedIn pages, but she chose not to do that. ChatGPT Agent Mode found similar prospects, but it could not access her own logged-in accounts.
Tips
Use this only if you want the agent to work inside your logged-in account and you are comfortable with the privacy tradeoffs. Keep sending turned off until you have reviewed each draft and are ready to approve it.

Try it yourself with Perplexity Comet

Open my logged-in LinkedIn account and look for recent posts by people in [industry/job area] who were laid off because of [reason]. Give me [number] prospects with their name, profile link, and a brief note on why they seem relevant. Then write a short, respectful outreach message for each person based on their post. Stop after showing the drafts and wait for my approval before sending anything.

Fill in the [brackets]. Agents can make mistakes, so review anything before it is sent, paid or deleted.
